History

Byakko

Kuzuryu-jinja Hongu has been revered for a long time as the guardian deity of Lake Ashi. This nine-headed dragon was originally a fearsome creature inhabiting the lake, bringing disaster to people. However, it was pacified by the power of Hakone Okami, the deity enshrined at Hakone Shrine in Motohakone, and since then, it has bestowed blessings upon people as the guardian deity of the land. It has a deep connection with water and is worshipped as a deity of prayer for rain and abundant harvests. In recent years, it has also gained popularity as a deity of matchmaking. It is a place where one can feel the powerful energy of the dragon god.
