Shin-Daibutsu-ji is a Shingon Chisan sect temple located in Tominaga, Iga City, Mie Prefecture, with the mountain name Gohozan. The principal object of worship is a Rushanabutsu (Vairocana Buddha). According to tradition, the temple was established by the monk Chogen, who devoted himself to rebuilding Todai-ji during the Kamakura period, and had a great Buddha constructed on this site. Under the teachings of Shingon Buddhism, the compassion of the Buddha radiates in all directions, drawing pilgrims seeking blessings and relief from misfortune.
