History

Kai Zenkoji is a venerable temple that received a sacred division-spirit statue from Shinshuu Zenkoji. According to tradition, during the Battle of Kawanakajima, Takeda Shingen moved the principal image of Shinshuu Zenkoji to Kofu, marking the beginning of this temple. It enshrines the "Single Light, Three Bodies Amida Tathagata" and has been cherished by people of all Buddhist sects. Its magnificent Golden Hall is known as the largest wooden structure in eastern Japan, and its solemn appearance deeply moves the hearts of visitors. As a blessed place where one may receive the same benefits as Shinshuu Zenkoji, it is truly a sacred site of great gratitude.
