History

Byakko

Kinkakura Jinja is an ancient shrine that boasts nearly two thousand years of history as the chief tutelary shrine of Kai Province. Situated at the foot of Mount Kinpo in the depths of Shosenkyo Gorge, it is famous for the golden cherry blossoms known as the tree that bears gold. It is said that Takeda Shingen deeply revered this shrine, and it is known as the protective deity of the Takeda clan of Kai. In spring, beautiful golden blossoms bloom in splendor, and it is believed that taking the petals home brings increased fortune. The sacred grounds reached by climbing a steep mountain path are enveloped in an atmosphere befitting a divine realm, inspiring deep emotion in all who visit.
