History

Byakko

This Nago-dera, which I have visited, is a temple with a very long history, said to have been founded during the reign of Empress Suiko. Its principal image is Kannon Bodhisattva with eleven faces, and it has long gathered the faith of the local community. Within the temple grounds is a beautiful garden, enveloped in a quiet and serene atmosphere. In particular, the statue of Kannon Bodhisattva enshrined in the main hall soothes the hearts of visitors with its gentle expression. Having passed through many years, it remains a place that quietly marks time as a spiritual refuge for many people.
