History

An ancient shrine enshrined at Sodeshi in Shimizu, it is a venerable sanctuary dedicated to the divine presence of Amaterasu Ômikami. The fishermen of Suruga Bay held deep faith in this shrine, receiving the bountiful blessings of the sea. Merchants traveling the salt roads also came to pray for safety at sea. From ancient times, it has flourished as the guardian deity of this land.
