History

Shinmei Shrine honoring Amaterasu, the sun goddess. Enshrined in Kataoka, the divine light continues to illuminate these lands. The will of the gods, ancestors of the imperial line, dwells in this modest sanctuary. Pilgrims visit seeking to recover the light deep within their hearts. Throughout the ages I have watched, countless prayers ascend heavenward from this place.
