History

Byakko

Heratoriginja is enshrined on the slopes of Ohirayama in Nishiura, Tsushimacho, Kurashiki, Okayama. Since ancient times, the fishermen of the Seto Inland Sea have placed their faith here, praying for safe voyages and bountiful catches. The shrine is dedicated to three deities of the sea: Owatatsumi-no-kami, Toyotamahime-no-mikoto, and Tamayoribime-no-mikoto. Though its former rank was muukakusha, it has long served as a spiritual anchor for the fishing communities along these coastal shores.
