Shinzhu-ji is an ancient Shingon temple nestled at the foot of Mount Kōyama, known as a temple possessing special spiritual power as indicated by its name "Shinzhu." The temple takes the Wish-Fulfilling Wheel Kannon as its principal image and has been deeply venerated as a guardian deity of women. Its location within the embrace of the sacred mountain Kōyama has traditionally made it ideal for spiritual practice, and it is said that many high priests have engaged in meditation here. Particularly as a Kannon deity fulfilling the wishes of women, streams of visitors continue to pray for safe childbirth and good relationships. From the temple grounds, one can overlook the entire Kansai region, and the view is magnificent.
