Awa Jinja

Awa Jinja, enshrined in Oasa-cho Ikedani, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture, holds a distinguished position as a former prefectural shrine, with appointment as an Imperial shrine having been confirmed. Within the sacred grounds stands the cremation mound of Emperor Tsuchimikado, administered by the Imperial Household Agency, reflecting deep ties to the imperial family. Revered since ancient times as the guardian deity of Awa Province, the shrine continues to receive the devotion of the local people amid the sea-breezes of the Awa landscape.
