History

Byakko

Ryukokuji is an ancient temple of the Soto Zen sect in Hidaka-cho, Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Its mountain name is Fukinzan Chojamine, and its principal image is the Sho-Kannon (Holy Kannon). The temple is widely known as the "peony temple," where peonies bloom in profusion in spring, joined by camellias, mountain hydrangeas, and saru-suberi through the seasons. Deeply rooted in the Tajima region, it continues to attract visitors seeking the beauty of flowers and a connection with Buddha.
