Kaminari Jinja

Kaminari Shrine in Miyairo, Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture, enshrines Amenohohi-no-Mikoto as its principal deity, with Wakeikazuchi-no-Mikoto as a secondary deity. Formerly ranked as a go-sha (village shrine), it has long been venerated as a protector against lightning strikes in the Kazusa district of Shimosa Province. As an Izumo-lineage deity, Amenohohi-no-Mikoto governs both agriculture and thunder. The shrine preserves an ancient form of faith connecting the power of heaven with the lives of local people.
