Joujoji, formally Jokaisan Joujoji, is a Rinzai Zen temple of the Myoshinji school, situated deep in the mountains of Sunohara, Ohkuwa Village, Nagano Prefecture. One of the three great temples of Kiso, it is said to have been founded around 1387 during the Kakei era of the Muromachi period. The main hall, sutra repository, and gate are all designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan. The temple also serves as the Hotei deity of the Kiso Shichifukujin pilgrimage and as the 21st stop on the Kiso Saigoku 33 Kannon pilgrimage.
