History
Gesshoji is an ancient temple of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism, situated in Hitomarucho, Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, bearing the mountain name Hitomaruzan. The principal image is an eleven-faced Kannon (Ekadashimukha). Nestled near the sea in Akashi, the temple has long been a site of faith for local residents. Like moonlight casting its gentle radiance, the halls of this temple have served as a spiritual beacon in the stillness of night, offering strength and solace to all who visit through the compassion of Kannon.
