Koganji Temple, commonly known as Nakata Kannon, is a Soto Zen temple located in Aizumisato, Fukushima Prefecture. With the mountain name Fumonzan, the temple enshrines an eleven-faced standing Kannon statue. It is traditionally said to have been founded in 1279 (Kouan 2), and has long been a center of faith along the Aizu Thirty-Three Kannon pilgrimage circuit. The name Nakata Kannon has been cherished by the people of Aizu for centuries, and visitors continue to come seeking blessings for good marriage and safe childbirth.
