History
This Hokekyo-ji is an important temple of the Nichiren sect, founded by the Great Saint Nichiren. Established in 1275, it is a sacred site for the Nichiren sect, attracting many believers from all over the country. Within the temple grounds are numerous precious structures, including a five-storied pagoda and the Soshi-do (Founder's Hall), evoking the weight of history. In particular, the statue of the Great Saint Nichiren enshrined in the Soshi-do creates a quiet and solemn atmosphere. This temple has long gathered the faith of many people as a center for spreading the teachings of the Lotus Sutra.
