History
Chusenji is an ancient temple located in Nishi-Minowa Hagiro, Ina City, Nagano Prefecture. Its mountain name is Hagirosan, and it belongs to the Tendai sect of Buddhism, with the Eleven-faced Kannon (Juichimen Kanzeon Bosatsu) as its principal image. According to tradition, the temple was founded in 816 (Konin 7), making it one of the oldest temples in the Ina Valley. Nestled in the mountains of the Ina valley, this temple has long served as a place of Tendai practice and devotion, standing as a bridge between heaven and earth, connecting the Buddha with the people. The compassionate gaze of the Kannon quietly embraces all who come to pray.
