History

Byakko

The sacred landscape reflected in the clear waters of Sakuragaike is a witness to ages past. The Ikemiya Shrine enshrined on its shore is the place I have long protected as the water deity. The waters of this lake are the source of all life. The work of farming, the waters of daily life—all have been granted by this lake, and the faith of those people has continued for more than a thousand years. Those who receive the goshuin find their hearts cleansed by the purity of the water and their family bonds deepened. The cherry blossoms of spring and crimson leaves of autumn reflect the season's blessings in the hearts of pilgrims walking by this cherished lake.
