Fukushima Gokoku Jinja is a Gokoku shrine dedicated to honoring the heroic spirits of those who gave their lives for the nation. Situated in Yamaguchi, it plays an important role in consoling the spirits of those from Fukushima Prefecture who fell in war and in praying for peace. Gokoku shrines are established in each prefecture, where people pay their respects with gratitude for and remembrance of those who dedicated their lives to their homeland. Together with prayers for peace, it serves as a place to deepen local and family affection, cherished by many.
