History

Kaijo Hachimangu is a Hachimangu shrine located in Shibasaki, Choshi, Chiba Prefecture, formerly ranked as a go-sha (village shrine). Since ancient times it has been venerated as a guardian deity of maritime safety, drawing the deep faith of fishermen and sailors in the Choshi area. The grounds overlook the Pacific Ocean, and visitors pray for safe voyages, safe childbirth, and good fortune while feeling the sea breeze.
