Ono Jinja is an ancient shrine revered since old times as the Second Shrine of Shinano Province, enshrining Takeminakata no Mikoto as its principal deity. As a renowned shrine of Shinano with status second only to Suwa Taisha, it has continued to gather the faith of local people. Already valued by the imperial court during the Heian period, it was positioned as the second most important shrine in Shinano Province. It is said that Takeda Shingen also visited to pray for victory in battle, and today many worshippers continue to visit this shrine of honored tradition.
