Tegona Reijindo

Tegona Reijindo is a sacred hall in Mama, Ichikawa City, Chiba, enshrining the legendary beauty Tegona, who is celebrated in the Manyoshu poetry anthology. Also known as Tegona Reido, this hall commemorates a woman who attracted many suitors yet wed none, and who ended her life in sorrow. Her spirit is said to bestow the blessing of good marriage ties, as well as safe childbirth and academic success. The quiet precinct invites visitors to reflect on this ancient tale.
