History
Tokuoin, formally known as Daiенzan Tokuoin or Tokkо Zen'in, is a Buddhist temple of the Rinzai Tenryuji school located in Fukiai-cho, Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. The principal image is the Eleven-Faced Kannon Bosatsu. The pure waters of nearby Nunobiki flow close by, and within this clear air people have long visited to pray for good fortune and the fulfillment of heartfelt wishes. The eleven faces of Kannon are said to illuminate all directions, extending compassion to every form of suffering. The greenery of the mountain and the sound of water purify the heart and quietly receive the prayers of those seeking good health and freedom from illness.
