History
Takemizuwake Jinja, enshrined in Chikuma City, is a venerable shrine that has long received profound reverence as the Second Shrine of Shinano Province. It has continued to watch over this region, which developed alongside the blessings of the Chikuma River, for many centuries. Known as a deity of martial prowess and water, it is said that many daimyo during the Warring States period came to pray for victory in battle. Even today, it is cherished by many people as the community's tutelary shrine, with its autumn grand festival being celebrated magnificently.
