Fukami Shrine, located in Fukami, Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho of 927 CE as one of the thirteen Engishiki shrines of Sagami Province. In the Edo period, it was referred to as "Kashima-sha" in the Shinpen Sagami Fudoki Sho. The enshrined deity, Takemikazuchi-no-Mikoto (the great deity of Kashima), has long been revered as a guardian of martial prowess. The shrine has served as a tutelary deity for the local community, offering blessings of abundant harvests, business prosperity, and safe childbirth.
