History
Azuma Shrine is located in Azuma, Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, and is dedicated to Ototachibana-hime no Mikoto — the princess who sacrificed herself by entering the sea to calm the waves during Yamato Takeru's eastern expedition. Her profound love and self-sacrifice are revered here. As a former village shrine, the shrine serves as a subsidiary of Yatsugari Hachiman Shrine. Since ancient times, farmers and fishermen alike have visited to pray for abundant harvests, bountiful catches, and safe living.
