History

Daienji is a Tendai Buddhist temple in Shimo-Meguro, Meguro, Tokyo. Its mountain name is Shorinzan and its principal image is Shakyamuni Buddha. The temple enshrines Daikokuten and is counted among the original Yamanote Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods of Yamanote). A wooden standing statue of Shakyamuni Buddha housed here has been designated an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese government. The temple has long attracted visitors seeking the blessings of Daikokuten, deity of wealth and good fortune.
