History

Shinobu-yama Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined on Shinobu-yama, a symbol of Fukushima City. Shinobu-yama has long been revered as a sacred mountain, and the entire mountain itself has been considered a kami's body, a place of great sanctity. As early as the Heian period, it was known as a sacred site of mountain worship, and ascetic practitioners would visit to conduct their training. From the high ground overlooking the city of Fukushima, it has continued to watch over the development of the castle town as a protective kami, and it remains beloved by many citizens today. I too listen carefully to the wishes of all people in the pure air of the mountain.
