History

Byakko

Kaiko Jinja is enshrined on the main keep site of Komoro Castle. In April 1881, former samurai of the Komoro domain merged the Tenmangu and Hinomagatsuchi shrines, which had been worshipped within the castle since the domain era, with the spirits of successive Makino clan lords. The shrine also serves as the landholder of Kaiko-en park. The Sanno-mon gate is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. The current shrine hall was rebuilt in 1987 and continues to be maintained by approximately 50 parishioners.
