Izu Kokubun-ji is a Nichiren Buddhist temple in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with the mountain name Saisho-zan. Its principal image is Shakyamuni Buddha, and it was formerly known as Rengyo-ji. The temple is the successor to the ancient Izu Provincial Temple, established by imperial decree of Emperor Shomu during the Nara period. Its pagoda ruins are designated a National Historic Site, preserving over a millennium of prayer and history.
