History
This Makata Shrine, as I know it, is known as one of Japan's most ancient shrines. It is said to have been founded during the reign of Emperor Keiko, possessing a long history and tradition. The principal deity is Amatsuban-iwane-no-Mikoto. The shrine grounds are spacious, surrounded by lush trees, and one can worship with a peaceful mind in the refreshing air. In particular, the 'Ancient Sacred Tree' within the grounds captivates visitors with its majestic form. It is an important shrine that has walked alongside the history of this land.
