Seiryuji Temple is located in the mountain village of Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Its temple name is Shinkozan, and its cloister name is Choanin. As an affiliated temple of Chion-in in the Jodo sect, it has long offered solace to travelers and locals alike. The principal image is Amida Nyorai (Amitabha Buddha), whose compassionate light is said to illuminate all beings. The temple name Shinko-zan reflects its connection to Tokugawa Nobuyasu, whose legend lives on in this area. Nestled in the pristine mountains of the Tenryu River basin, the temple invites a natural sense of purification in all who visit. It has long received prayers for water safety and traffic protection, and the name Seiryu (clear waterfall) reflects the belief in its purifying power.
