Komyoji is an ancient temple that stands as the chief temple of the Jodo sect in the Kanto region. It was founded by the fourth regent Hōjō Tsunetoki with Zen'a Yoshitada as the founding abbot, and has a long history of spreading the teachings of nembutsu. The spectacular view of Sagami Bay from the main hall is renowned as "Kamakura's finest sunset," with beauty evoking the Pure Land of Paradise. Through the guidance of Amida Nyorai, it is a sacred place filled with light, bestowing peace of mind and hope for the afterlife.
