History
Komyoji is an ancient temple that stands as the chief temple of the Jodo sect in the Kanto region. It was founded by the fourth regent Hōjō Tsunetoki with Zen'a Yoshitada as the founding abbot, and has a long history of spreading the teachings of nembutsu. The spectacular view of Sagami Bay from the main hall is renowned as "Kamakura's finest sunset," with beauty evoking the Pure Land of Paradise. Through the guidance of Amida Nyorai, it is a sacred place filled with light, bestowing peace of mind and hope for the afterlife.

正月三が日と初詣時期は参拝客が集中します。午前9時から10時、午後4時以降は相対的に空いている傾向です。
JR鎌倉駅東口より徒歩約7分です。バスの場合、鎌倉駅東口から京急バス「鎌倉宮」行きで約3分、「光明寺」バス停で下車すぐです。
専用駐車場は約40台収容可能です。大型連休や初詣時期は満車になることが多いため、公共交通機関の利用をお勧めします。
