History

Byakko

Isahwa Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrining Wakatsibi Hime no Mikoto, situated on the Kaburakosakaki peninsula overlooking the beautiful sea of Toba. This shrine, read as "izawa," has long been revered by fishers and those involved with the sea as a sea deity. It is particularly known as the protector of women and is said to be efficacious for matchmaking, safe childbirth, and wishes specific to women. The shrine building stands on a cliff commanding a panoramic view of Ise Bay, allowing visitors to feel both the protection of the deity and the grandeur of nature. Praying wrapped in sea breezes makes the heart feel light and at ease.
