History
Towaki Jinja is a venerable shrine held in reverence since ancient times as the First Shrine of Ise Province. It enshrines Saruta Hiko Okami and Ama Sushinono Mikoto as its principal deities, serving as the guardian spirit of this region and beloved by its people. The Suzuka region has flourished since antiquity as a vital point along the Tokaido, and many travelers have offered prayers at this shrine for safe journeys and prosperous business. The shrine grounds are permeated with a solemn atmosphere that purifies the hearts of visitors. Affectionately known as "Ichinomiya-san" by local people, the shrine grounds overflow with visitors during seasonal festivals.
