Goryo Jinja is a shrine dedicated to Kamakura Gongoro Kagemasa, a valiant warrior known during the late Heian period. It was founded to console the spirit of Kagemasa, who is especially revered for his divine blessing of healing eye ailments, and has long attracted many worshippers. The ancient masks used in the Tsurukame Gyoretsu procession held at the shrine are precious cultural properties that transmit Kamakura's traditional culture to the present day. Located immediately beside the Enoden railway line, the shrine is also charming for its scenic views with the train.
