Chozen-ji is a Soto Zen temple located in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, founded in 1575 (Tensho 3) by the monk Koshitsu Bongei on the hill known as Tobarizan. During the Kan'ei era, it was relocated to its current site at the center of old Kashiwa village. The principal image enshrined here is Shakyamuni Buddha. Just a five-minute walk from Kashiwa Station, the temple grounds offer a moment of calm amidst the urban surroundings.
