History

Byakko

Asakusa Jinja is the oldest temple in Tokyo, with Kannon Bodhisattva as its principal deity. According to legend, it began when two brothers who were fishing in the Sumida River during the reign of Emperor Suiko discovered a Kannon statue. The shrine is famous for the large lantern at Kaminarimon Gate and, together with Nakamise-dori Street, preserves the nostalgic atmosphere of old Edo. Beloved as "Kannon-sama," it attracts countless visitors throughout the year and stands as one of Tokyo's most representative sacred sites.

Visit Notes

🙏 1

Unfortunately drew a bad fortune 💔 but it was okay because of the beautiful architecture. It was probably karma for spending too much time shopping and missing the Goshuin hours haha
