History

This Hachiman-gu shrine, enshrined in the Fukushima district of Yame, has long been revered as the guardian deity of the community. Hachiman deities are renowned as martial deities, and have been worshipped by many warriors including those of the Minamoto clan. Yame is also known as a beautiful tea-producing region, and this shrine has accumulated history together with the abundant nature of this land. It has continued to watch over the safety and prosperity of the local people, and remains an important sacred place visited by many worshippers. The grounds are enveloped in quietude, a place well-suited for purifying the heart.
