Dairokuten Jinja enshrines Omodaru-no-Mikoto and Ayakashikone-no-Mikoto, the sixth-generation deities of the seven generations of heavenly gods who gave form to heaven and earth. The founding date is uncertain, but the shrine is believed to date to the early Edo period. During the era of combined Shinto-Buddhist practice, it was also known as the Dairokuten-sha. Following the Meiji-era separation of Shinto and Buddhism in 1872, the principal deities were changed to their current form. Designated as a prefectural shrine by the Kanagawa Prefectural Shrine Association with the treatment of a village head shrine, it is counted among the influential shrines in the prefecture. It has long been venerated for travelers' safety along the old Tokaido road, and in recent times as a guardian deity of manufacturing and construction.
