History
Kiji Koto Jinja is enshrined in Katsuura, Fukutsu, and as its name suggests, possesses a beautiful legend associated with pheasants and the koto. Since ancient times, it has been revered as the deity of music and performance arts, and has been cherished as a place where beautiful sounds soothe the deity. The cry of the pheasant becomes an offering to the deity, and the sound of the koto is said to connect heaven and earth, serving as emotional support for those engaged in the arts. If one listens carefully within the quiet grounds, surely one will hear the voice of the deity.
