History
Omae Jinja is an ancient shrine situated in the deep mountains and valleys of Shiiba village. Shiiba is known throughout as the legendary refuge of the Heike clan, a hidden land of mystery, and this shrine too has drawn the faith of the people through long ages. It enshrines the mountain deity and has been cherished as the tutelary god protecting the villagers living in these harsh mountain regions. The people of Shiiba, who live in harmony with nature, have long held this shrine dear as they pray for the blessings and safety of the mountains. The quiet precincts, enveloped in silence, are truly a sacred place where one can sense the mystery of the divine realm.
