History
Kaitaku Jinja is a special shrine dedicated to those who contributed to Hokkaido's development. Established to honor and commemorate the great deeds and spirits of pioneers who cleared the virgin lands during the Meiji era, it continues to be passed on to future generations. Situated on the elevated grounds of Miya-ga-oka in central Sapporo, it watches over the city built by the pioneers. As a shrine that bestows the courage to overcome difficulties and carve new paths, as well as hope for the future, it attracts many visitors.
