History

Byakko

Tottori Jinja in Kushiro is said to have been established by people who migrated from Tottori Prefecture in Honshu, pouring their longing for the deities of their homeland into its creation. During Hokkaido's development era, many people welcomed the divine spirit of their homeland shrine, praying for success and safety in their new land. Situated in the port town of Kushiro, the shrine has gathered the faith of those engaged in fishing and commerce. As a source of spiritual support for those far from their homeland, it continues to watch over the prosperity of the new land and remains treasured by local people.
