Kannonji Temple, officially known as Fudarakusan Jigenji Kannonin, is a Tendai sect temple located in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture. It was founded in the early 1630s by monk Senden in Kuritani under the name Unkyo-zan Kannonin, before relocating to its current site around 1639 (Kan'ei 16). The temple flourished as one of the eight prayer temples designated by the Ikeda clan, former lords of the Tottori domain. The Kannonin Garden, widely recognized as a masterpiece of early Edo-period landscape gardening, creates a space of peaceful contemplation. The principal object of worship is Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu, whose compassionate light embraces all sentient beings.
