Toyofu Hachimangu

This shrine stands in Toyofu, a coastal settlement in the far north. In ancient times, those seeking maritime safety brought the spirit of the Itsukushima goddess from distant Itsukushima Shrine and enshrined her here. Washed by salty northern winds, it has long received the devoted faith of fishermen.
