Hakodate's Tosho Jinja is an authentic shrine that enshrine Tokugawa Ieyasu. Created with the purpose of inviting the spiritual presence of the Tosho Daigongen, the ruler of the Edo period, to this land of the north to pray for the peace and prosperity of this region. In the international port town of Hakodate, it has inherited the spirit of Ieyasu, who built a peaceful world under Tokugawa rule, and has watched over the stability and prosperity of the region.
