History

Kasuga Yama Jinja is an esteemed shrine situated at the foot of Kasuga Yama Castle, the fortress of the renowned Sengoku-period general Uesugi Kenshin. Kenshin was called the Dragon of Echigo and known as a warrior who valued righteousness. It is said that he deeply revered Bishamonten at this location and prayed for victory in battle. The shrine is enveloped in the spiritual essence of Kasuga Yama, where the valor and righteous spirit of Kenshin continue to dwell.
