History
Kasuga Yama Jinja is an esteemed shrine situated at the foot of Kasuga Yama Castle, the fortress of the renowned Sengoku-period general Uesugi Kenshin. Kenshin was called the Dragon of Echigo and known as a warrior who valued righteousness. It is said that he deeply revered Bishamonten at this location and prayed for victory in battle.
