History

I shall tell you of this venerable shrine, whose origins trace back to the late Heian period according to sacred tradition. Here are enshrined five deities: the primary gods Okuninushi-no-Mikoto and Kotoshironushi-no-Mikoto, alongside Takateruhime-no-Mikoto, Mizokuihime-no-Mikoto, and Amenohohi-no-Mikoto. During the Kamakura era, this sacred place received devoted worship from the Kisai-to, one of the seven warrior clans of Musashi Province. Since ancient times, it has served as a protective deity for military families and warriors. The shrine's name 'Hisaizu' can also be read as 'Quiz,' and in recent years, it has gained popularity as a deity of wisdom and learning. The shrine grounds are graced by magnificent wisteria, designated as a natural monument of Saitama Prefecture. Each late April, the Wisteria Festival draws countless visitors to witness the spectacular blooms. The famous 'Dragon Gate' carving at the temizuya (purification basin) captures the hearts of those seeking advancement in life. Through the divine virtues of Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, the shrine blesses worshippers with matchmaking and business prosperity, while Kotoshironushi-no-Mikoto provides protection for fishing and safe voyages.
