Shinozaki Hachiman Jinja is an ancient Hachiman shrine enshrined in the Kokura area. It enshrines Emperor Ōjin and was founded with prayers for military fortune and the peace of the region. This shrine has walked alongside the development of Kokura castle town and has been a source of spiritual support for local people. Surrounded by beautiful bamboo grass that gave rise to the place name Shinozaki, its grounds maintain a quiet space despite being in an urban area. As a guardian deity watching over the development of Kitakyushu, it continues to be cherished by many people.
